You guessed it, another busy week, but at least there are now some free days. I still need to wrap the Christmas presents today, but at least there aren't that many, so I'm not going to be up too late.

This week I finished and posted The Open Road Still Softly Calls. It's the future fic set in space I talked about. I was extremely delighted to find that there already was a canonical tag "IN SPACE!" on AO3. My space nerd brain was very delighted about this story.

I also continued editing the steampunk fic that I'll start posting on the 25th. It'll probably occupy most of my next week's writing time, considering the daily posting. I'm a little bit ahead, though, so I'm not too pressed with it.

Other than the editing, I'll be looking over my idea list and see what catches my attention for the next story to write.

There are stories that are known at nearly every corner of the galaxy; telling of Nomad and the White Wolf. They’re said to have been born on Earth, back when its people only dreamed of reaching the stars. It is said there’s a reason why time doesn’t touch them the same way it withers their kin. It is said they still travel across the galaxy, finding those who need help and giving it freely.

There are the stories, but there are also the men. There are Steve and Bucky, standing on the surface of an icy moon, millions of miles away from home, looking forward to a moment of rest.

It was a very busy week in general, and I have a lot of stuff to do over the next couple of weeks as well, some of it self-imposed stuff, and part of that writing. At least I managed to do nearly all of my Christmas shopping, all I need is paper cups for the chocolate truffles I'll make.

Anyway, I'm still working on the two fics I mean to post (or at least start posting) this year. The one shot future fic set in space that I'd like to post on the 23rd is still kind of up in the air whether it will be finished on time, but I'm still definitely trying. It's in a much better shape than it was last Sunday (I actually know how I'll end it now), and I'll put my efforts on it over the work week, and see where I get.

The editing for the steampunk themed fic is going well, the gaps are closing and it's starting to look like a pretty coherent story, which is always nice:D. I'll probably let it sit now until next weekend and just focus on the other story, because I'm actually ahead of my editing schedule with this one. It's past 37k now, and passing 40k seems inevitable. The more the merrier I guess, even when it comes to word count. Also I think I forgot to mention, but it surprised me by ending up rated teen (unless I have a sudden smut inspiration while editing). It just felt better that way.

It's certainly been a week around fandom, as a result of which I've revived this DW blog, and mean to actually post things here rather than just have it as a placeholder. It's still a bit under construction and probably will be for a while, considering how busy I'm likely to be over the next couple of weeks, but I'll get there. I'm going to keep my tumblr blog too, and some stuff (like these weekly writing recaps) will be posted on both blogs. I'm thinking of making this a bit more expansive when it comes to content, the tumblr is pretty much all MCU, but I'm thinking of writing here about other stuff, like the books I've read etc.

Getting to what I've written this week, looking back it feels like I was surprisingly productive, considering significant amount of time went into all the hassle. I'm hoping to get two more fics out this year, one is definitely happening and the second one is more a case of we'll have to see.

The one definitely happening is the traditional twelve parter that'll be posted over the holidays, starting on the 25th. This year I tackled the steampunk AU that I've been idly considering for a while but never wrote until now. It's in a good place now, the first draft is written and I have all the notes for the things that need fixing as well, so I can dive into editing starting next week. I'm pretty happy with how it looks so far, and the length at 35k is very reasonable. It'll go up a bit, there are a few things I need to add.

As a side note, I've a few steampunk influences, but the one on top of my head while writing was Sydney Padua's delightful The Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace & Babbage, very much recommended.

The other fic that I hope to post on the weekend before Christmas is only just begun, but on the other hand it's not going to be long either so I'm still very optimistic I'll get it done. It has two working titles in my head, Nomad and the White Wolf, or alternately Christmas on the Ice Moon. My inner space nerd was fully in charge of choosing the setting :D I'll keep working on it over next week, and by Sunday I should know whether it'll be posted this year or not.
