It's certainly been a week around fandom, as a result of which I've revived this DW blog, and mean to actually post things here rather than just have it as a placeholder. It's still a bit under construction and probably will be for a while, considering how busy I'm likely to be over the next couple of weeks, but I'll get there. I'm going to keep my tumblr blog too, and some stuff (like these weekly writing recaps) will be posted on both blogs. I'm thinking of making this a bit more expansive when it comes to content, the tumblr is pretty much all MCU, but I'm thinking of writing here about other stuff, like the books I've read etc.
Getting to what I've written this week, looking back it feels like I was surprisingly productive, considering significant amount of time went into all the hassle. I'm hoping to get two more fics out this year, one is definitely happening and the second one is more a case of we'll have to see.
The one definitely happening is the traditional twelve parter that'll be posted over the holidays, starting on the 25th. This year I tackled the steampunk AU that I've been idly considering for a while but never wrote until now. It's in a good place now, the first draft is written and I have all the notes for the things that need fixing as well, so I can dive into editing starting next week. I'm pretty happy with how it looks so far, and the length at 35k is very reasonable. It'll go up a bit, there are a few things I need to add.
As a side note, I've a few steampunk influences, but the one on top of my head while writing was Sydney Padua's delightful The Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace & Babbage, very much recommended.
The other fic that I hope to post on the weekend before Christmas is only just begun, but on the other hand it's not going to be long either so I'm still very optimistic I'll get it done. It has two working titles in my head, Nomad and the White Wolf, or alternately Christmas on the Ice Moon. My inner space nerd was fully in charge of choosing the setting :D I'll keep working on it over next week, and by Sunday I should know whether it'll be posted this year or not.
